- The book which was published in 1930 by the Long Island Railroad is an extensive guide to Long Island. It begins with in depth detail on the history of Long Island, starting with glacial formation and running to present day 1930. Along with Long Island history, the guide also gives insight to the social customs of Long Island long ago including impressionable people and important places. As part of the guide there is a map of Long Island as well as a map of the Railroad routes including lists of all the Bus, Boat and Trolly connections. The guide also gives lists of Golf Clubs, Hotels and Boarding Houses. Lastly is several pages of advertisements for local businesses, there is also an index to help navigate all of the advertisements.
